Welcoming + Guiding Visitors @America’s Great Outdoors
The banner design on either side of the entrance to the visitor center @ America’s Great Outdoors featuring California native forest and desert trees. Each agency represented in the space are also featured their logos. LA County Fire, and Fire Forestry, US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.
How it kept growing….
After designs for the Visitor Center were approved and characters for the Leave No Trace area were built. I collaborated with local artist, Amanda Smith to paint the “Mountains of Many Colors” Mural. The Mural served as a backdrop for LA County Officials and Local Beekeepers during the fair.
How it all started…
As an independent creative, my experience collaborating with government agencies was limited before this project. Thanks to my work with the Fisheries Resource Volunteer Corps I was at least familiar with the forest service. Submitting design work for America’s Great Outdoors at the LA County Fair was a challenge, but overcoming it was the perfect way to share my love of LA nature.
What’s happening now…
I worked directly with the America’s Great Outdoors President to build a fully functioning, mobile accessible, web app with the intention of providing navigable site details and the daily schedule, featuring AGO attractions like “Tree Circus” and “Crosscut Sawing”!
